As
a child I won poster contests and always impressed the
teacher with my inspired response to the assignments.
So, of course I majored in visual art when I attended the University
of Colorado, where I earned a BFA in drawing and painting.
Through many jobs in design, publishing, self-publishing and
advertising, I realized that the picture-making part of every
project absorbed and excited me the most. And I've
always thrived on assignments, applying my own special magic
to them. When I moved to Seattle I decided to study
illustration at the School of Visual Concepts to build a commercial
portfolio, attracted a rep, and started to freelance as an illustrator.
On this site you can enjoy examples of my most successful illustration
style. As you can see, I've had the good fortune to work
with wonderful designers from agencies representing a variety
of businesses and institutions from
all over the USA and Canada. The spirited colors and expressive
line of this style works well in ads, on book jackets, packaging,
posters, web pages, illustrated logos,
and more!
Also new to this site is a link to some of my paintings. Click
on Fine Art Web Site below and see how I work from life, mostly
from the figure.
Seattle is still my home, where I've raised two artistic children
(my daughter Shayla is my webmaster!) and have become part of
a rich community of artists. Check out the links to some
of my friend's’ web sites on my Lively
Links page. |
